Happy New Year! 2017 is here and filled with many resolutions, all made with good intentions. Of course, execution is another matter altogether. Let’s start with the old standby: I resolve to lose weight. The normal list of New Year’s resolutions multiplies from there: exercise frequently, eat healthy, don’t spend as much money, don’t complain about work, don’t yell at my husband for watching too much sports on TV (hers), or watch less sports on TV so I can spend more time with my wife (his).
Admirable things to strive for, one and all. This year, how about also resolving to make your home more efficient and safer, thereby leading to an improved quality of life?
The best way to achieve this is to make a checklist:
- Check smoke detectors and change batteries, especially if it’s been a while.
- If your home does not have low-level carbon monoxide alarms, install them have one of our qualified technicians do it for you. Learn the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning and how to prevent it… the life you save may be your own or that of a loved one.
- By the way, how is the air quality in your house? If you are like most of us, your answer likely is ‘I don’t know.’ Well, your friends at Armstrong can provide answers to that question with an indoor air quality (IAQ) test. This will identify indoor air pollutants like mold, dust and allergens, and help determine if your ductwork is in need of cleaning.
Armstrong also offers installation of air purification systems or whole house humidifiers. Don’t you think it’s time to make the air you breathe cleaner and help keep your family healthy?
OK, so we have made your home safer; now let’s make it more efficient. One way to do that is with a new Wi-Fi enabled thermostat. Think programmable thermostat on steroids. This baby allows you to customize and control your heating and cooling system using your mobile device. Example: say you left home for two weeks during the holidays. You probably turned the thermostat way down to save money. Well, on your way home you can use your smartphone to tell your wifi programmable thermostat to crank up the heat so your home will be nice and toasty when you get there. Or, if you left home just plumb forgot to turn the heat down, you can fix that problem as well. Remember: Something wrong? Better call Armstrong!
Make an appointment with one of our technicians or call our office to learn more about programmable wifi thermostats and which one may be compatible with your system. We’re pretty sure it will save you money in the long run.
And one final suggestion: if you’re considering either one of those TV sports resolutions, you might want to wait until AFTER the Super Bowl.
