LUBBOCK, TX – Armstrong Plumbing, Air & Electric is proud to announce that one of their plumbers, Bret Burger, won first place in the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors (PHCC) State of Texas
Apprenticeship Competition. To add to the excitement, Bret won the state competition the week
that Armstrong Plumbing, Air & Electric celebrated its 90th year of business in Lubbock, TX.
Born in Odessa, Texas, Bret moved to Kings Mountain, North Carolina at the age of 8 and returned to
Lubbock in 2017. Outside of his work, he enjoys fishing, bowling, and golfing, which reflects his
competitive spirit. This fall, Bret will continue into his 4th year of the PHCC Statewide Apprenticeship
Program facilitated by the Construction Education Foundation. Bret is already scheduled with the Texas
State Board of Plumbing Examiners to complete his licensing exams to become a licensed journeyman
plumber in Texas.
Ryan Carpenter, Virtual Design and Construction Manager at Armstrong Plumbing, Air & Electric proudly
states, “Bret Burger, one of our very dedicated apprentice plumbers, has just four and a half years in the
industry, but he has proven his exceptional skills and commitment to the plumbing profession, and we are proud to announce that he will represent Texas at the national level this October 7-10 in Birmingham, AL. Bret is not only a talented apprentice, but also a devoted family man. He and his wife Nikki are the proud parents of five children: Richard (28), Heather (25), Sally (22), Nicolett (21), and Daniel (20). His family is his greatest source of motivation and support. We look forward to cheering Bret on as he competes at the national competition and are confident that he will continue to excel in his career. His determination and hard work are truly commendable.”
