The Early Bird Gets the Cool House

The countdown is on. We’re talking about the countdown to the first big heat wave in West Texas. Spring officially arrives in just a few days, and experience tells us the hot weather isn’t far behind. Armstrong Plumbing, Air & Electric wants to make sure you are ready for what lies ahead.

The very first thing you should be doing is calling to schedule your air conditioner tune-up. I know it’s easy to put that phone call on the back burner while you’re enjoying the nice spring weather, but here’s the deal: The last thing you want to do is wait until the hot weather arrives. We speak from experience. On the first day, it reaches the 80’s or 90’s, our phone is going to be ringing off the hook from people looking for HVAC service in Lubbock and the surrounding area. When it happens, we do our very best to help everyone as quickly as possible. But in those situations, you could be stuck waiting for hours, or even a day or two. Not fun if your air conditioning isn’t working.

Our trained technicians will make sure your system is running efficiently and safely. When you call us in for an A/C tune-up, this is a partial list of the services you will receive:

  • Cleaning of condenser coils (increases efficiency and reduces wear & tear)
  • Check refrigerant level and check for leaks
  • Lubricate all moving parts
  • Verify thermostat is working correctly
  • Inspect ductwork for signs of leaks
  • Inspect all electrical connections and tighten as needed
  • Evaluate condition of blower motor and blower belt

We are asked all the time if A/C tune-ups are worth the money? We understand that’s just part of being in the heating and air conditioning service business, but our answer is always the same: Yes, it is. It’s no different than any other mechanical system with lots of moving parts, like cars or farm machinery. If you want it to last a long time and work correctly, you have to take care of it.

The maintenance is especially critical this time of year, and not only because the temperature is going up. The humidity level is also going to increase as we get later into spring and summer. When there’s more moisture in the air the A/C has to work harder to remove it, and if it can’t do it properly, your home isn’t going to feel comfortable.

Please enjoy spring because it’s a great time of year, at least barring any severe weather, but don’t forget about the triple-digit temperatures to come. Call Armstrong Plumbing, Air & Electric to make sure you stay cool and comfortable when the heat arrives.
